A little help getting started
Settle in, find a friend, and say hello. These four steps will help you find your way around.
Open GizmoriftYou can start with a Free account.
Create an account or sign in. Open Settings from your profile button to add a photo or a short bio. Choose your language and appearance there, too. Ultra members can upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or AVIF image up to 5 MB for a custom chat background; it uses My files storage.
Settings → Your accountAsk someone you know for their private Gizmorift address. Choose Add a friend, enter their address, and send a request. They need to accept before you can message.
An address looks like GZ-XXXX-XXXXOpen your friend in Chats and write a message. Sent means the server saved it. If a send is not confirmed, keep the message unchanged and press Send to retry. Unsent text survives a reload in the same tab until you sign out. Choose Recently used to sort conversations by activity; when a friend sends a message, their conversation moves to the top. On a phone, open Friends to browse the independently scrolling friend list. My files and Shared spaces are in Chats.
Chats → Choose a friendOnce your friends have accepted, choose + Group in Messages. Give your group a name and select the friends you want to include.
Messages → + GroupChoose your interests in Explore, then join a conversation you care about. Check a community’s rules before posting.
Create a Social profile to follow people, post photos, comment and join communities. Social messages need a follow in either direction, messages enabled for both people and no Social block. They stay separate from Personal chats.
Open Nova when available, choose a tool, and review the model, processing category and credit cost. Only confirm when you are ready to send the prompt and selected media to the AI provider. Find saved results in your Nova library.
Open Games, choose a game, then invite a Personal friend or find a random opponent. Chess also offers five bot levels. Random opponents see a player alias rather than your private profile.
Open a Personal friend or group conversation and choose audio or video. Group calls support up to eight participants. Allow microphone or camera access when asked. Notifications and network conditions affect whether a call reaches or connects to someone.
Open Chats to find My files and Shared spaces. My files keeps personal files on your account; Shared spaces lets you work with selected members. Files attached to a chat are shared with that conversation’s participants. Keep a separate backup of important files.
Settings lets you adjust online presence and read receipts. Use conversation settings to mute, block, or report someone.
Check the address with your friend, including every letter, number, and hyphen. Use their private GZ address, not their public community handle.
A request is not a friendship yet. Ask your friend to check Friend requests and accept. If they cannot receive requests, they can review that setting in Settings. Blocking also prevents direct contact.
Keep the chat open and choose Try upload again. Successfully uploaded files stay attached; failed and remaining files are kept for the retry. Uploaded files are shared only after you press Send. Changing chats or signing out clears the retry selection.
Allow access in your browser’s site permissions, check that your device has a camera or microphone, and try again. A call also needs the other person to accept.
Friendship and group membership control access inside the app. The server stores readable messages and files. An operator with access to the server or its backups can access that content. Read the Security page before sharing sensitive information.
